Overview

The Diploma in System Administration course provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to manage, as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team, the IT systems in an organization, including software, security and networks.

 

Modules / Units

·        Originate and develop concepts

·        Promote workplace cyber security awareness and best practices

·        Lead and facilitate a team

·        Match ICT needs with the strategic direction of the organization

·        Manage client problems

·        Validate quality and completeness of system design specifications

·        Implement process re-engineering strategies

·        Review and manage delivery of maintenance services

·        Design an enterprise wireless local area network

·        Install and upgrade operating systems

·        Research and review hardware technology options for organizations

·        Develop detailed component specifications from project specifications

·        Perform systems tests

·        Confirm transition strategy for new systems

·        Perform integration tests

·        Manage the testing process

·        Perform stress and load tests on integrated platforms

·        Develop, implement and evaluate an incident response plan

·        Determine ICT strategies and solutions for organizations


 

General Entry

·        Successful Completion of Higher Secondary Education OR

·        Attainment of a Level 4 Foundation Study Program approved for the specific Diploma program

·        Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR

 

Alternative Entry

·    Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program OR

·     20 years old, completion of secondary school, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program.
